Look at ezinarticles.com.
Do you see lots of image there?
Image-less, right?
Except, maybe, for the Google Ads that appears before, at the side, and after an article.
And such image less post does not stops people from visiting.
In fact, the visitors it commands is quite a number.
I don't have the exact estimate but I can 'guesstimate' that it's in the range of millions a month!
What does this got to do with anything?
Maybe I'm frustrated
Yeah, maybe.
I really thought that I can use the same concept, create thousands of articles, get few people to join in and attract millions to my site.
Have you ever thought of that?
Have you ever think that you can start online with your idea or concept, take after an acceptable, successful website and expect the same result?

Hardly...
And people recommend being authentic or original. Let the personality shine. Of course, that's an option if time is on your side.
Lets do a simple experiment
Strip all the words from your blog post. Just leave the image there.
Strip all the words from your blog post. Just leave the image there.
Does it speaks a thousand words?
Now, strip the image and leave the words.
Does it make sense?
Which is more engaging now?
Picture/image or words?
But writing is not my forte
It's much easier to upload a photo and print a few words just for the sake of search engines.

There are widespread debate about how using image is getting more effective as content to get ranking.
Maybe...
And videos too.
We see those occupy many top spots in the search engine ranking because they have added values.
What do you think your audience preferred mode of learning?

Test to learn
You can learn more about your audience by testing. Ask question. Do survey. Do polls online. Do something to learn about your audience.

I know I can set that up with Google Analytics. Seesh... Can I ever escape from depending too much on Big G to build my business?
Someone did point the way, some years ago, and he said with full confidence...
"I say Goodbye to Google"
How's that possible?
How he even got the gut to spill those words?
But he did. He did...
And how he did it, you asked?
He employs simple idea of running an online business. He set out from the very beginning that he would not depends on the search engines, particularly Google, to build his business.
He build his impeccable online asset.
No!
It's not sets of images or thousands of words and keywords to rank in the result page.
It's a LIST...
Build a list and own your online asset
That's what he did.
That's what he did.
And that's how he bid farewell to search engines.
I can only imagine doing what he did.
Why?
I'm just a sucker to SE. I like Google. I spent too much time pleasing it. I know that it's not the wisest thing to do but I just like it.
No!
I'm quite obsessed with it actually :)
And as far as I'm concerned, Big G likes image. It likes videos. It likes long words.
Like my sifu said,"I just don't write long post to annoy you..."
The idea behind long post
My sifu said that he could not validate his finding but he found out that when two post compete for higher rank, with everything being equal, the post with the longer words will win, every time.

He speculates that, since there's more words stuffed in, chances for the targeted keywords to be snug in more is higher thus giving the longer post an added advantage.
Have I said anything useful here?
I hope I did.
But if there's none, perhaps, I just write this long, image-less blog post JUST to annoy you ;-)
Update November 18th, 2015: I've decided that this post NEEDS an image. Period.
