It seems like yesterday when I first earn my first ever dollar promoting someone else product online.
Such business model for internet business is called affiliate marketing (see how did it with the local program).
Truth to be told, it was 4 years ago.
I used 'dollar' to denote the earning because, truly, it was in dollar.
My country's currency is Ringgit Malaysia...
I used the word 'ever' for a simple reason - I no longer remember exactly how that happen :-)
It's a waste, right?
I could easily earn more dollars promoting product of others if I remember what bring about the result.
But seriously, I don't...
It's a vague memory of doing a bit of things here and there.
No specific.
Just a vague feeling of what had happened back then.
Certain thing I do remember:
It's a digital product. In fact, it was a downloadable product, in Pdf. An ebook to be exact...
It's a popular product. Meaning, the demand is there and others already show that they're interested with the topic of the product. Yes, others also compete to offer it but it's everybody's game...
I promote it on a blog. I specifically remember this because I don't have a list. I did not build one and perhaps I'll keep delaying building one. Up to this point, I did have a list when I use Prosender a few years back, but that was it. I never have a list thereafter...
It's really a waste because I forgot what took place.
Treat a promotion as a project. One product is one project. What I want to do is, to document every step I take, from selecting the product to promoting it. The cash I earn is just an incentive. What I want to aim for is progress and growth...
Focus on a single method at a time. I truly believe that one of the reasons I forgot is I did a bit of everything. EVERYTHING! Perhaps, if I focus on a single thing, it will remember it better.
Develop a system. It's probably true that I develop my own system even if I was following other people system. The reason I follow the system of others is because I want to be able to recommend it later. I don't want to mince words so I want to experience it before recommending.
Earning my first dollar, at that time, was the sweetest experience. I developed a feeling that earning income online, even when you don't have a product, is possible.
But of course, if only you know what to do, what you've done, and most importantly, what worked.

If I can pen out the lesson here for future reference:
